The Power of Truth: 13
Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Teachers play a vital role in upholding truth in the church of Christ.
1 Timothy 3:15 NKJV
“but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”

This simply means that the church is the place where God’s truth is taught, accepted, believed and practiced.
•God has placed teachers in His church.
1 Corinthians 12:28 NKJV
“And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.”

When our Lord Jesus ascended He gave gifts to men. One of the vital gifts is the “teaching gift.”
Ephesians 4:11 NKJV
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,”

The office of a teacher developed later in the Early Church. Initially, the only office that was recognised and mentioned was the office of the apostle. In the process of time, the other offices developed and were given recognition. The first men to be recognised as “Teachers” in the book of Acts were in the church of Antioch.
Acts 13:1 NKJV
“Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.”

The Old Testament had men called “Teachers of the Law,” but these men in Antioch are the first called and anointed teachers, given by Jesus Christ.

May you have excellent teachers of God’s word. May you be nourished by God’s wholesome truths to grow into the fullness of Christ, in Jesus’s name.

Sunday Pulpit Series

The Seven Churches of Asia: 1
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

The last book of the bible is Revelations. It is a peculiar book because it contains seven epistles written to seven churches, directly from Jesus Christ our Lord.
Revelation 2:1 NKJV
“To the angel of the church of Ephesus write,
‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands:”

•All the other epistles were written by various apostles, as they were inspired by the Holy Ghost.
•All the other epistles were written separately but in Revelations, we have seven epistles together.
•The epistles in Revelations, are also unique because they are part of a larger book. All the other epistles stand alone.
The seven churches of Asia Minor were in seven cities, Ephesus, Smyrna, Philadelphia, Thyatira, Laodicea, Pergamos and Sardis.
There are very few references to these seven churches in the rest of the bible.
Apostle Paul wrote a separate epistle to the Ephesians.
Ephesians 1:1-2a NKJV
“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:”

Paul also wrote a letter to the Colossians, that he commanded should be read by the Laodicean believers.
Colossians 4:16 NKJV
“Now when this epistle is read among you, see that it is read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and that you likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.”

Paul had also written a separate letter directly to the Laodiceans, but we do not have that letter in the bible.
Jesus Christ sent His epistles to the seven churches to correct, encourage, commend, rebuke and warn the seven churches.

May you receive the “Rhema word” of God, as you go to church.
