Moses was the lawgiver. God used him to establish the first covenant between Jehovah and Israel. Unfortunately Moses’ covenant was faulty.
Hebrews 8:7 NKJV
“For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.”
It was irreparable. God was forced to discard it altogether and replace it with a new covenant.
Hebrews 8:8 NKJV
“Because finding fault with them, He says: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—”
Moses was very limited because the sinful and carnal Israelites, couldn’t keep the Law he gave.
Hebrews 8:9 NKJV
“Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord.”
A better covenant was needed. Our superior Lord Jesus Christ presented a New Covenant.
Hebrews 8:10 NKJV
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
Moses’ glory was fading rapidly.
2 Corinthians 3:13 NIV
“We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.”
When Moses came from the presence of God, his face was shining with God’s glory.
Exodus 34:30 NKJV
“So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.”
Unfortunately for Moses his glory couldn’t last. He found a veil and covered his face, like a bride going to the altar.
Exodus 34:33 NKJV
“And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face.”
Moses didn’t want the people to know his glory was fading fast.
Your glory in Christ does not fade. You are moving from glory to higher glory. May God’s glory be ever increasing in your life, in Jesus’ name.

Jeremiah received his greatest revelation after Nebuchadnezzar had carried away the Jews into exile. Israel had failed to heed all of Jeremiah’s warnings. Finally God sent judgment. Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem and broke down its walls.
He burnt the city with fire.
2 Kings 25:9 NIV
“He set fire to the temple of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down.”

Nebuchadnezzar carried away all the riches.
2 Kings 24:13 NIV
“As the Lord had declared, Nebuchadnezzar removed the treasures from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace, and cut up the gold articles that Solomon king of Israel had made for the temple of the Lord.”

Nebuchadnezzar carried away the people also into Babylon.
2 Kings 24:14 NIV
“He carried all Jerusalem into exile: all the officers and fighting men, and all the skilled workers and artisans—a total of ten thousand. Only the poorest people of the land were left.”

Jeremiah however, found favour before Nebuchadnezzar.
Jeremiah 39:11-12 NIV
“Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had given these orders about Jeremiah through Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard: “Take him and look after him; don’t harm him but do for him whatever he asks.”

Jeremiah was set free and whatever he wanted was done for him.
He received a word from God for his countrymen in faraway exile. Jeremiah wrote his revelation in a letter and sent it to the Jews in Babylon.
Jeremiah 29:1 NIV
“This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.”

This letter was full of encouragement and good news for the exiles.
May the Lord cause you to hear good news as you go to church.

Moses was a type of the Messiah. He was specially chosen to deliver God’s people from bondage and slavery.
Moses was an anointed deliverer
Exodus 3:10 NKJV
“Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

Moses’ mission in life was to deliver the Israelites from slavery.
Christ also was sent by God to deliver mankind from slavery to Satan and sin. Hebrews 2:14-15 NIV
“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.”

Moses gave up his position as a prince of Egypt to join the Israelite slaves.
Hebrews 11:24-25 NKJV
“By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin.”

Jesus also put aside His equality with God, and chose to become human.
Philippians 2:6-7 NKJV
“Who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.”

Moses was ordered by God, to come out of Egypt with the Israelites.
Exodus 6:26 NKJV
“These are the same Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said, “Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.”

God also called Jesus to come out of Egypt.
After Herod died, an angel from God called Jesus and his family to come out of Egypt.
Matthew 2:15 NKJV
“And was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”

May the Lord call you out of every trouble and give you total liberty in Christ. May you enter God’s Promised Land of peace, grace and prosperity, in Jesus’ name.

Moses’ life had several similarities to the life of Christ.
Moses had prophesied that God would raise a Prophet like himself for Israel.
Deuteronomy 18:15 NKJV
“The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear,”

Some of the similarities!
Massacre of innocent male babies
The king of Egypt decreed the slaughter of all male Israelite babies, around the period of Moses’ birth. Satan was hoping to kill the coming deliverer.
Exodus 1:22 NKJV
“So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.”

Likewise, king Herod also decreed the slaughter of all male babies, less than two years old in Bethlehem and its surroundings.
Matthew 2:16 NKJV
“Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.”

Moses was given sanctuary and protection in Egypt.
Moses was delivered from death by Pharaoh’s daughter, and taken into the Egyptian palace for protection. Although the Israelites were in Egypt they had their own separate city called Goshen.
Moses was taken from Goshen to live among the Egyptians.
Likewise, God’s angel directed Joseph to take Jesus into Egypt for sanctuary and protection.
Matthew 2:13 NKJV
“Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”

Jesus is superior.
Jesus is the Son of God, while Moses was totally human.

May God’s Hand of power protect you from all enemies.
May you find a location of maximum fulfillment, comfort, and grace, in Jesus’ name.

Moses struggled to gain acceptance from the Israelites.
His greatest fear was neither Pharaoh nor the Egyptian army.
His greatest fear was the rejection of his own people.
Acts 7:35 NKJV
“This Moses whom they rejected, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?’ is the one God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the Angel who appeared to him in the bush.”

The rod turning into a snake, and back into a rod, was actually to convince the Israelites, that God had sent Moses.
Exodus 4:4-5 NIV
“Then the Lord said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.” So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand. “This,” said the Lord, “is so that they may believe that the Lord, the God of their fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has appeared to you.”

Moses’ hand becoming leprous, and being restored, was also another sign for the Israelites.
Exodus 4:6-7 NIV
“Then the Lord said, “Put your hand inside your cloak.” So Moses put his hand into his cloak, and when he took it out, the skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow.
“Now put it back into your cloak,” he said. So Moses put his hand back into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was restored, like the rest of his flesh.”

Then God added a third sign just for surety.
Exodus 4:9 NIV
“But if they do not believe these two signs or listen to you, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the river will become blood on the ground.”

God gave Moses a third sign, just in case the first two signs failed to convince the Israelites.
The superior Christ, showed greater wonders to Israel than Moses showed to the Jews.
Clearly it was the superior Christ who actually performed the wonders that accompanied Moses’ rod.

May the wonders of God confirm all His purposes for your life.
May God’s power enable you to work greater works, in Jesus’ name.

Moses actually in his lifetime faced a lot of opposition and rejection from the Israelites.
At forty years of age he visited the Israelites, and found an Egyptian oppressing one of them.
He killed the Egyptian and rescued the Israelite.
Acts 7:24 NKJV
“And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended and avenged him who was oppressed, and struck down the Egyptian.”

Moses thought the Israelites would understand that God had chosen him to deliver them from slavery.
Acts 7:25 NKJV
“For he supposed that his brethren would have understood that God would deliver them by his hand, but they did not understand.”

The next day Moses tried to make peace between two Israelites who were fighting.
Acts 7:26 NIV
“The next day Moses came upon two Israelites who were fighting. He tried to reconcile them by saying, ‘Men, you are brothers; why do you want to hurt each other?’”

He received the shock of his life.
Acts 7:27-28 NIV
“But the man who was mistreating the other pushed Moses aside and said, ‘Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?’”

His own Israelite brethren reported him to Pharaoh for killing the Egyptian.
Exodus 2:15 NIV
“When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, where he sat down by a well.”

After 40 years, God appeared to Moses and commissioned him to deliver the Israelites.
Moses was more afraid of his own people than even Pharaoh.
Exodus 4:1 NIV
“Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?”

All the first three signs God gave to Moses were to convince the Israelites.
The superior Christ was the source, and the power behind the miracles of Moses.

May the grace of God sustain you in your life’s mission.
May God grant you major breakthroughs in all your business, in Jesus’ name.

Moses was born to slave parents, but God raised him up to deliver the slaves.
Moses was born under a death sentence, but God caused him to live.
Exodus 1:22 NKJV
“So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.”

Pharaoh decreed that every male baby born to the Israelites should thrown into the river.
Moses’ parents refused to throw him into the river, they rather hid him.
Hebrews 11:23 NKJV
“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command.”

Moses’ mother couldn’t hide him anymore.
She made a waterproof ark and put Moses in it, and placed it by the river.
Exodus 2:3 NKJV
“But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.”

The daughter of Pharaoh came to bathe in the river.
She heard Moses crying and had mercy on him.
She decided to adopt Moses.
Exodus 2:6 NKJV
“And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”

Moses’ sister offered to get a Hebrew slave to nurse Moses for Pharaoh’s daughter.
Exodus 2:8 NKJV
“And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” So the maiden went and called the child’s mother.”

Moses’ sister went and called Moses’ mother.
Exodus 2:9 NKJV
“Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.”

God blessed Moses’ mother to receive wages to care for her own son. Amazingly Pharaoh received Moses to live in his palace and allowed his daughter to adopt him.

May the supernatural favour of God surround your life.
May God’s favour open great doors for your life, in Jesus’ name.

The most prominent figure of the Old Testament was arguably Moses. Moses greatly influenced the nation of Israel because he brought the Law, and Israel’s life as a nation revolved around the Law.
John 1:17 KJV
“For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

The Law was so associated with Moses that it is regularly called the “Law of Moses” in the Scriptures.
Deuteronomy 31:9 NKJV
“So Moses wrote this law and delivered it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel.”

The first recording of God’s word began with Moses.
The Ten Commandments were written by God Himself on tablets of stone.
Exodus 31:18 NKJV
“And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.”

Later on, Moses copied out what God had written into a book and added all the other sayings of God.
This book of the Law controlled every facet of Israel’s life.
Their worship, diet, marriages, holidays, legal system, sanitation etc was all controlled by the book of the Law, written by Moses.
Israel struggled to accept the Messiah because they considered themselves as followers of Moses.
The author of Hebrews, reveals the superiority of Christ over Moses.
Hebrews 3:3 NKJV
“For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house.”

Moses operated as a servant, but Christ operated as a Son.
Hebrews 3:5a NKJV
“And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant,”

Christ served as a Son.
Hebrews 3:6 NKJV
“But Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.”

May you rejoice in your sonship.
May God’s Fatherhood give you protection, guidance, favour and promotion in Jesus’ name.

Angels do possess several abilities that human beings currently do not have.
Angels can fly, but man cannot fly. Angels can appear and disappear instantly, but man cannot.
Angels are spirits and therefore invisible to the human eye, unless they choose to reveal themselves.
Men cannot make themselves invisible.
Apostle Peter described the judgment that was coming on some insubordinate men.
2 Peter 2:10 NIV
“This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings;”

These men arrogantly rain insults on fallen spiritual beings, however God’s angels that possess greater power, don’t dare do that.
2 Peter 2:11 NIV
“Yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not heap abuse on such beings when bringing judgment on them from the Lord.”

When Archangel Michael disputed with Satan over Moses’ body, he did not insult Satan.
Jude 1:9 NKJV
“Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

Yet, there were some who presumptuously rained insults on Satan and other fallen principalities.
Jude 1:8 NIV
“In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings.”

There appears to be a proper spiritual protocol in dealing with fallen spirits. Insults are out!
The most effective weapons for dealing with Satan and his cohorts, are humble dependence on God and the mighty name of Jesus.
James 4:7 NIV
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

May you be successful in binding the forces of darkness.
May the success of your life show God’s wisdom to all people, in Jesus’ name.

Some further functions of angels.
Angels are worshippers.
Some angels are even employed full time in praising and worshipping God.
Revelation 7:11-12 NKJV
“All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom,Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

Angels are spirit beings, but they can take on human form.
Hebrews 13:2 NIV
“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.”

Angels in human form were sent to remove Lot from Sodom before destroying the city.
Genesis 19:15 NKJV
“When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, “Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city.”

The same angels are called “the men.”
Genesis 19:16
“And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city.”

True angels do not accept worship.
John the apostle tried to worship an angel. The angel forbade him.
Revelation 19:10 NKJV
“And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. No angel has this title. Angels are simply called spirits and flames of fire.
Hebrews 1:5 NKJV
“For to which of the angels did He ever say:
“You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”?

May the superior Jesus Christ dwell in your heart by faith. May you be lifted and raised by the power of God, in Jesus name.
