Noah and the Flood 9
By Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi
Noah was to build an ark.
There was no other boat like it on earth.
Genesis 6:14 NIV
“So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.”
It was a peculiar boat, with its plan
and dimensions from heaven.
Genesis 6:15 NIV
“This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high.”
The Ark was to have three floors and a roof.
Genesis 6:16 NIV
“Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.”
Noah faithfully built it according to God’s specifications.
It was roofed and waterproof.
Nobody could imagine any possible use for such a massive waterproof ship, with a roof.
Noah appeared crazy.
How was he even going to get his huge boat to a river?
Preparations for future judgments, always seem strange.
Unbelievers find it surprising.
1 Peter 4:4 NIV
“They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you.”
When you see what others don’t see, you become a target for their anger. Unsurprisingly, Noah the preacher made very few converts.
The only people who believed him were his immediate family –
His wife and his three sons and their wives.
1 Peter 3:20 NIV
“To those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water.”
God waited patiently while Noah was building the Ark.
God tolerates a lot of evil, for the sake of the salvation of the righteous.
2 Thessalonians 2:7 NIV
“For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.”
May you be part of the chosen ones to escape all coming judgments.
May you and your family enjoy the full benefits of salvation, in Jesus’ name.
