Noah and the Flood 2
By Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi
Though Noah’s sons repopulated the earth, it must be noted that, Noah himself descended from Adam.
A source of the extreme evil during Noah’s days was the intermarriage between women and fallen angels. The human population on earth increased.
Some beings called “sons of God” were attracted to beautiful ladies.
Genesis 6:2 NKJV
“That the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.”
These unions produced the giants. They were human beings with extraordinary strength, physique and abilities.
Genesis 6:4 NKJV
“There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.”
The children of these unions were superhuman.
The earth began to be filled with a mixture of human beings and superhuman beings.
The result was a total breakdown of morality and conscience.
God took action.
He first limited man’s lifespan to 120 years.
Genesis 6:3 NKJV
“And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
This was a very drastic reduction in human lifespan, if you consider that Noah’s father called Lamech, lived for 777 years and Noah lived 950 years.
Genesis 9:29 NKJV
“So all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years; and he died.”
Violence and anarchy reigned upon the earth.
Genesis 6:13 NKJV
“And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”
Noah and his family were chosen to escape destruction and repopulate the earth, for two reasons.
• Noah was totally human.
He didn’t have any DNA from the fallen angels.
• Noah was a righteous man despite the wickedness around him.
May you also be preserved by God for His great purposes.
May God anoint you for your generation, in Jesus’ name.
