Isaac’s wife Rebekah gave birth to the twins Jacob and Esau, after a long battle with infertility.
Rebekah had received a special blessing from her family when they released her to go and marry Isaac.
Genesis 24:60 KJV
“And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.”
They blessed her to be the mother of countless millions of powerful descendants who would conquer all their enemies.
Despite the blessing she faced a great difficulty in conceiving.
Genesis 25:20a NIV
“And Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah daughter of Bethuel.”
She tried and failed to conceive for about 20 years.
Genesis 25:26b
“Isaac was sixty years old when Rebekah gave birth to them.”
The breakthrough came after 20 years of marriage when the twins were born.
Isaac prayed for his wife to get the breakthrough.
Genesis 25:21 NIV
“Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.”
The pregnancy had some strange complications.
Genesis 25:22 NKJV
“But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the Lord.”
Unborn babies were struggling with each other.
Rebekah prayed to God asking for the cause of the ongoing struggle in her womb.
Genesis 25:23 NKJV
“And the Lord said to her:
“Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.”
Each baby would father a nation.
The Israelites from Jacob would be stronger than the Edomites from Esau.
Romans 9:16 NIV
“It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.”
May God’s mercy empower you and your descendants.
May greatness be released upon you and your descendants in Jesus’ name.

Morning Message of Motivation – The Mercy of God 16

Morning Message of Motivation

The Mercy of God 16
By Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

The Law stated plainly that the firstborn son inherited the birthright. The birthright gave the firstborn two major things, firstly, the father’s blessing and secondly, a double portion of his father’s inheritance.
This birthright blessing was to be strictly applied.
Some men had two wives.
Deuteronomy 21:15 NIV
“If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons but the firstborn is the son of the wife he does not love”

Such men were warned not to give the birthright to the son of the beloved wife, if he wasn’t the true firstborn.
Deuteronomy 21:16 NIV
“When he wills his property to his sons, he must not give the rights of the firstborn to the son of the wife he loves in preference to his actual firstborn, the son of the wife he does not love.”

Esau was the firstborn son of Isaac. The blessings truly belonged to Esau but God’s promotional mercy was on Jacob.
Romans 9:10 NIV
“Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac.”

Jacob received his promotional mercy while he was still in his mother’s womb.
Romans 9:11 NIV
“Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand:”

It’s a promotion based on mercy because none of the twins had done either good or evil.
In fact, they had not yet been born when God chose to promote Jacob.
Romans 9:12 NIV
“not by works but by him who calls—she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”

Jacob wasn’t lifted by virtue of his human effort or merit.
He wasn’t even born yet.
God, by His own counsel, promoted Jacob above Esau and decreed that Esau would become his servant.
When Jacob was born, he was already blessed and lifted by mercy.

May God’s mercy that promotes a man indeed work in your favour.
May God lift you over and above your natural qualifications, in Jesus’ name.

Morning Message of Motivation – The Mercy of God 15

Morning Message of Motivation

The Mercy of God 15
By Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

God has a special mercy that He bestows upon people to promote and lift them.
God bestowed this mercy on Jacob when He lifted Jacob far above Esau, his senior twin brother.
Romans 9:15 NKJV
“For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.”

God’s favour is often perplexing to the carnal human mind.
God often seems to bless people that human beings, despise and reject.
However God does this deliberately.
1 Corinthians 1:27 NKJV
“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.”

God choses to bestow His promotional mercy on weak, lowly and base people so He will get all the glory.
1 Corinthians 1:28 NKJV
“And the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are.”

God lifts humble and rejected people to bring to nothing the things which the world considers great.
1 Corinthians 1:29 NKJV
“That no flesh should glory in His presence.”

God hates human pride and boasting.
The things that men respect highly are unimportant to God.
Luke 16:15b NKJV
“For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.”

God raises the weak, base and foolish people to convince the wise people in this world that their wisdom is faulty.
Rebekah was the mother of twins called Jacob and Esau.
She felt them struggling in her womb.
Genesis 25:22 NKJV
“But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the Lord.”

God’s promotional mercy was at work.
It was the cause of the struggle.
Genesis 25:23 NKJV
“And the Lord said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.”

May God’s mercy promote you highly.
May you receive a divine lift and raise, above and beyond your natural qualifications.
May you be lifted by God’s favour, in Jesus’ name.

Morning Message of Motivation – The Mercy of God 14

Morning Message of Motivation

The Mercy of God 14
By Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

The primary focus of God’s mercy is forgiveness of sins.
Sin is universal among men.
Forgiveness is therefore a need of all men.
In Christ we have forgiveness.
Ephesians 1:7 NKJV
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”

A woman was arrested breaking the Law.
John 8:3 NKJV
“Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,”

She had no defense.
She had been caught in the act.
John 8:4 NKJV
“They said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.”

The penalty of breaking this law was stoning to death.
John 8:5 NKJV
“Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?”

They hoped to trap Jesus through His merciful nature.
They felt Jesus’ mercy would compel Him to try to rescue the woman.
John 8:6a NKJV
“This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him.”

They hoped He would say something against the Law of Moses in His attempt to save the woman from judgment.
Jesus simply ignored them.
John 8:6b NKJV
“But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.”

They pressed Him harder to respond.
John 8:7 NKJV
“So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”

Christ’s response brought great conviction upon these wicked hypocrites.
They dropped their stones and left one after the other.
Jesus also refused to condemn the woman but rather empowered her to go and sin no more.
John 8:11 NKJV
“She said, “No one, Lord.”
And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

May you be lifted above all accusations.
May mercy go ahead of you.
May all evil arrows pointed at you be destroyed, in Jesus’ name.

Morning Message of Motivation – The Mercy of God 13

Morning Message of Motivation
The Mercy of God 13
By Rev Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

The deliverance of the Gadarene demoniac has some interesting aspects.
It was a battle for Christ and His disciples to even get to where he was.
Jesus gave a command to go over to the other side.
Mark 4:35 NKJV
“And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.”

They all boarded a ship and set off. Suddenly a storm arose.
Mark 4:37 NKJV
“And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.”

An unexpected gale force wind stirred up the normally calm waters of the lake.
Water began to fill up the boat.
Mark 4:37 NKJV
“And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.”

These tough and rugged fishermen panicked.
Mark 4:38 NKJV
“But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

The disciples feared they would all die. Jesus woke up.
Mark 4:39 NKJV
“Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.”

Also the demons in this man were very vocal.
They pleaded with Christ to leave them alone.
Mark 5:7 NKJV
“And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.”

They said this after Christ had commanded them to leave the man.
Even after Christ insisted they leave the man, the chief demon still pleaded to be allowed to remain in the region.
Mark 5:10 NKJV
“Also he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country.”

These devils were very territorial and wanted to continue to influence that region.
Christ overcame every obstacle and set the man free.
May you conquer every obstacle that opposes your mission in life.
May God’s mercy successfully locate you, in Jesus’ name.

One day, Jesus Christ our Lord embarked on a mercy mission to bring deliverance to a tormented man.
Mark 5:1-2 NKJV
“Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes. And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit”
This man was possessed by demons.
He was uncontrollable.
Total lack of self control is a sign of demonic activity.
Mark 5:3 NKJV
“Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains,”

He regularly broke the chains that the people used to restrain him.
Supernatural strength is another sign of demonic activity.
Mark 5:4 NKJV
“because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him.”

He had totally lost his mind, and constantly cut himself with stones.
Another sign of demonic activity is self harm.
Mark 5:5 NKJV
“And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.”
The demons wouldn’t allow him to function in normal society.
Total isolation and abnormal
behaviours is a sign of demonic activity.
In his pitiable condition, and under such great bondage, he came and worshipped Jesus.
Mark 5:6 NKJV
“When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him.”
The demon that possessed him spoke through the man’s voice.
Mark 5:7 NKJV
“And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.”
Demons indeed tremble at the presence of Jesus. Our God indeed is mighty.
Jesus in His mercy, had already commanded the demons to come out of the man.
Mark 5:8 NKJV
“For He said to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit!”
The demons fled at His command.
May you become an instrument of mercy in God’s hand to set many people free.
May every potential in you be released to function at its maximum, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer
“Dear Lord Jesus, please forgive me all my sins. Come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour. Amen.”

One of our Lord Jesus’ most unique works was the work of casting out devils.
Matthew 15:21 NKJV
“Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon.”
A desperate Gentile woman from Syro-Phoenicia cried unto Him for His deliverance mercy.
Matthew 15:22 NKJV
“And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”
Demons are devilish spirits that seek to inhabit human bodies.
They destroy health, mental soundness, and are responsible for various addictions and self-destructive behaviors.
This woman’s daughter’s specific problem is not stated.
However we are told that it was severe and not natural. It had a spiritual root cause.
Jesus initially totally ignored the woman.
Matthew 15:23 NKJV
“But He answered her not a word.
And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.”
Jesus disciples asked Him to get rid of the woman because she cried out for mercy nonstop.
Jesus finally spoke, but His words seemed totally discouraging.
Matthew 15:24 NKJV
“But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
The woman was not discouraged.
She chose to worship Him.
Matthew 15:25 NKJV
“Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
Jesus’ next words were crushing.
Matthew 15:26 NKJV
“But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”

This woman was undeterred.
She was determined to receive “deliverance mercy” for her child.
Matthew 15:27 NKJV
“And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

Jesus was greatly moved by her faith.
Matthew 15:28 NKJV
“Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.”

May you have great persevering faith.
May the Lord grant you, your highest desires, in Jesus’ name.

Lepers were among the most pitiable people in Israel.
Leprosy is contagious so lepers were quarantined.
They lost their homes, families and jobs.
Lepers usually lived outside the city walls and survived by charitable donations.
Jesus passed through Samaria and Galilee on His way to Jerusalem.
Ten lepers lived on the outskirts of a village.
Luke 17:12 NKJV
“Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.”
They stood far away because the law forbade them from coming into close contact with healthy people.
They began to cry out to Jesus for His healing mercy.
Luke 17:13 NKJV
“And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
The Law demanded at that time that every leper who claimed to be healed had to be examined and certified by the temple priests.
Leviticus 14:2 NKJV
“This shall be the law of the leper for the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought to the priest.”
The priests would conduct a thorough examination of the leper.
Leviticus 14:3 NKJV
“And the priest shall go out of the camp, and the priest shall examine him; and indeed, if the leprosy is healed in the leper,”

Jesus gave the ten lepers an incredible instruction.
Luke 17:14a NKJV
“So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”

These priests were going to thoroughly examine them, and they were still leprous.
Nothing had changed.
However they believed the word of Jesus, and set out in faith to go to be checked by the priests.
A miracle happened along the way.
Luke 17:14b NKJV
“And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.”

Initially it seemed they were going on a foolish trip, but as they went, their faith brought them the healing mercy of God.
May miracles happen along your way in life.
May you have faith to act on the word of God, irrespective of circumstances, in Jesus’ name.

The Mercy of God 9

Blind Bartimaeus received his healing mercy because he refused to be moved by negative opinions and criticism.
The people around him wrongly assumed that God would not have mercy on somebody like him.
They therefore told him to keep quiet and stop calling for mercy.
However God is not a respecter of men.
Acts 10:34 NKJV
“Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.”
God cannot deny His own nature.
He is a merciful God.
He cannot deny mercy to the needy.
Even when men fail, God cannot fail.
2 Timothy 2:13 NKJV
“If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.”
God cannot deny His own nature.
His mercy is forever available for all who humbly call on Him.
God’s ways are not man’s ways.
Isaiah 55:8 NKJV
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.”
Men thought Bartimaeus had no chance of receiving a miracle.
Bartimaeus however had knowledge of Jesus Christ.
He knew Jesus was a merciful healer.
He knew Jesus didn’t discriminate among men.
He knew Jesus healed everyone because of His mercy and compassion.
He began calling for mercy when he heard Jesus was passing his way.
It is easier to exercise faith on a platform of the sure knowledge of God’s word, and of His nature.
Romans 10:17 NKJV
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
True faith is not destroyed by contradictory circumstances. Bartimaeus began calling for mercy but instead of mercy, he was rather faced with judgmental opposition and criticism.
Instead of quitting, he rather increased his shouting for mercy.
Opposition made Bartimaeus more determined.
James 1:3 NKJV
“knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”
May you overcome all opposition to your progress.
May your faith override all contrary voices.
Receive your desired mercy, in Jesus’ name.

Morning Message of Motivation – The Mercy of God: 8

Morning Message of Motivation
The Mercy of God: 8
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

The primary divine mercy that people regularly demanded of Jesus, was His healing mercy. Jesus never refused even one request for His healing mercies. Jesus never gave any excuse to refuse His healing mercy to anyone. He never told any sick person that God had a special purpose for his ailment.

Beggars are usually given little regard in society. However Jesus never refused the plea of any beggar for His healing mercy. Jesus regarded all men equally.
Mark 10:46 NKJV
“Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging.”

Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus for His healing mercy.
Mark 10:47 NKJV
“And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Many people tried to shut him up. They felt he was disturbing their peace.
Mark 10:48 NKJV
“Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Bartimaeus, however was unrelenting. It was his one and only chance to receive healing mercy from Christ. He shouted even louder for mercy.
Mark 10:49 NKJV
“So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”

Bartimaeus’ cry for mercy had been heard by the “Father of mercies.” Bartimaeus would never beg again. He cast aside his garments which identified him as a blind beggar, and rushed to Jesus.
Jesus healed Bartimaeus that very hour. Our great merciful Saviour, released His healing mercy and opened the eyes of Bartimaeus.

May the Lord touch you with His healing and protecting mercies. May every prayer you pray for mercy be granted, in Jesus’ name.
